The monarch and the Duke of Sussex have experienced strained relations in recent years, particularly exacerbated by the contentious statements made by Harry and Meghan. However, Charles is driven to address a more personal concern - the limited time spent with his grandchildren, 4-year-old Prince Archie and 2-year-old Princess Lilibet.
Royal commentator Michael Cole shared insights on GB News, noting, "I think the King feels hurt by the fact that he does not see his grandchildren in California. It would be quite natural for any man to wish to see his grandchildren."
According to Cole, King Charles is "very keen" to meet his grandchildren, expressing deep affection for his children, grandchildren, and godchildren. The inability to see Archie and Lilibet is a source of significant upset for the monarch.
"The fact he does not see Archie and Lilibet, and that is not his wish, will be very upsetting to him. It will be a long time before Prince Harry returns to the country with his children," explained the royal expert.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry is engaged in a legal battle to secure the right to pay for police security when visiting the UK, underscoring the importance of his children feeling secure in their home country. Despite potential reconciliation efforts, the security issue remains a prominent concern for the Duke of Sussex.
