Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Dismiss Lilibet Revelations as 'Smear Campaign'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are vehemently denying recent claims that they did not seek permission from the late Queen Elizabeth II to use her nickname for their daughter, Princess Lilibet.

Royal author Robert Hardman's upcoming book has stirred controversy by suggesting that the Queen was angered by the implication that the couple had received permission for their daughter's name.

In response, an insider told Us Weekly that the couple is "shocked" by the controversy. The source insisted, "Meghan and Harry 100 percent got permission from the queen to use the name Lilibet. The report is not true. They don’t know where this is coming from."

The insider went on to express the couple's surprise and disbelief, stating, "They just feel like it’s more of the same smear campaign that continues against them." The source emphasized that multiple people are aware that the Queen gave her blessing.

"They feel it’s convenient [that] this is surfacing now when the queen is not here to defend herself and can’t say what is true or false," the insider explained, highlighting the timing and the challenges of countering such claims in the absence of the Queen.
