Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Face Regret Over Oprah Interview Impact on Future

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly harbor regrets about their pivotal interview with Oprah Winfrey, recognizing its enduring impact on their future ventures.

In 2021, just months after announcing their decision to step back from the royal family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex engaged in a revealing conversation with the renowned talk show host.

On a recent episode of the Royal Report podcast, Newsweek's chief royal correspondent, Jack Royston, shared insights into the consequences of Meghan Markle's revelation about alleged racism within the royal family toward their son, Prince Archie.

Royston emphasized that this controversy has lingered in people's minds, especially as it resurfaced in the Dutch version of Omid Scobie's book, "Endgame," released in November and naming two senior royal members.

"This is still very much a live issue in people's imaginations," stated Royston during the podcast, highlighting it as the "big take-home" from the extensive interview.

He further explained that the Sussexes might struggle to mitigate the impact of this revelation with any future explanations. According to Royston, the Oprah interview will overshadow subsequent endeavors, including the Netflix documentary and Harry's memoir, "Spare."

"When people look back, it will trump the Netflix documentary, and it will trump Harry's memoir, 'Harry's book Spare,' and the reason it will trump those two things is because it came first. Because it came first, it's created the narrative. It created the drama, and it created the interest. It was the original manifestation of the Harry and Meghan perspective, and this was its centerpiece," he added.
