Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing criticism for their perceived silence in the midst of the royal race row, with some accusing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of appearing "guilty."
PR strategist Laura Perkes, in a discussion with Express.co.uk, suggested that the couple's decision to remain silent could be interpreted as an admission of guilt.
Perkes emphasized the significance of actions, stating, "Actions speak louder than words, and in the case of Harry and Meghan, their silence made them look even more guilty."
Perkes acknowledged the delicate balance the couple faced, noting, "You could argue that a response would have looked like a retaliation and perhaps seen as a defense mechanism to mask their guilt." However, she also pointed out that issuing a statement could have signaled from their camp that they were not involved and had no intention of discussing the matter further.
The PR strategist expressed that the California-based couple's silence "did make it look like they had something to hide and added fuel to the fire."
The controversy stems from Omid Scobie's claims in his book "Endgame," where he alleges 'racist royals.' Since the publication of these claims in 2023, Harry and Meghan, who stepped down from their senior royal roles in 2020, have experienced strained relations with senior members of the royal family.
