The revelation surfaced during an interview with Angela Levin on GB News, where the royal commentator discussed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's decision to name their daughter after the Queen. Levin revealed that Meghan Markle took a significant step before Lilibet's birth by officially claiming copyright over the name.
Levin explained the Queen's perspective, stating, "That's an incredibly sad comment. I think one of the reasons she felt that way was because it was discovered that Megan, even before Lilibet was born, had taken out the names officially so that she could use them to buy things and to identify them."
When asked for clarification, Levin confirmed, "Yes. Before she had Lilibet, I think that was awful for the Queen because she gets drawn into owning organizations due to the name being so unique."
Describing the move as 'appalling,' Levin emphasized that Meghan Markle seemingly disregarded the sentiments and attachment the late monarch had to the unique moniker. Levin stated, "This name is just for her because she couldn't say Elizabeth when she was young. It's also for her family, her parents, and the Duke of Edinburgh; they all called her it out of love. It's very intimate."
Expressing concern, Levin added, "People who don't know about that will think that the Queen is supporting this, let's buy it. I think it's appalling."
This revelation follows earlier reports that the Queen was displeased after learning that the couple had allegedly taken her blessing to name their daughter Lilibet, a term of endearment the Queen herself adopted in her early years when she struggled to pronounce her own name.
