The Inside Story" by royal author Robert Hardman, The Daily Mail reported that the Queen was incensed by Harry and Meghan's claim surrounding the naming of their second child, Princess Lilibet, born in June 2021.
In their official statement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex declared that their daughter was named after her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, affectionately known as Lilibet within the family.
The Daily Mail suggests that a royal aide disclosed the Queen's reaction, stating that she was "as angry as I'd ever seen her" upon hearing the implications made by Harry and Meghan. The revelation regarding the Queen's alleged disapproval comes amidst previous claims that the couple did not seek her permission for using the name.
Responding to these assertions, the Sussexes' representative insisted that Prince Harry had indeed discussed the matter with his family in advance, with his grandmother being the first family member he consulted. The representative further warned of potential legal action, affirming that if the Queen had not been supportive, they would not have chosen the name.
Hardman's account of the events suggests that the couple, having faced pushback, sought to reinforce their version of events by issuing legal warnings and attempting to involve the Palace.
