Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Contemplate Name Change for Princess Lilibet Amid Backlash

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly contemplating a name change for their daughter, Princess Lilibet, following accusations of burdening her with a name deemed unfit for use.

Speculations and rumors abound, suggesting that the royal couple is considering altering their daughter's name due to the backlash, with concerns about potential challenges for Princess Lilibet in the future.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced criticism after allegations surfaced that they did not seek permission from the late Queen Elizabeth II to name their daughter Princess Lilibet.

Royal commentator Michael Cole, speaking on GB News alongside Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster, asserted that the couple had "burdened" their daughter with an inappropriate name.

Reflecting on recent events, Michael shared his perspective, stating, "I didn’t think it was the right thing. I think it’s very important when you’re giving a child a name that it should be a proper name."

He continued, "At one time, any self-respecting priest or minister would refuse to name a child unless it was a proper recognized name, either from the Bible or an official source. Lilibet is a nickname; it is not a recognized name. Although I didn’t say so out loud, because you want to be kind about newly born babies, they were perhaps burdening their new baby daughter with something she didn’t need."

When Prince Harry and Meghan named Lilibet, they emphasized that they would not have chosen the name without the Queen's blessing. The current reconsideration suggests a response to the criticism and an openness to address concerns about the suitability of the name chosen for their daughter.
