Prince Harry Considered to Fill Void in Royal Duties Amid King Charles and Prince William's Absence: Report

Prince Harry, who has experienced strained relations with his father King Charles and brother Prince William, may be contemplating setting aside differences during a challenging period for the royal family.

Following the announcement of Kate Middleton's planned abdominal surgery and King Charles' upcoming corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate, concerns arose about who would fulfill the role of Counsellor of State in their absence.

While Kate is in the hospital, a source revealed to Us Weekly that the Prince of Wales canceled his upcoming engagements to support his wife. With both the King and his heir dealing with health issues, attention turned to the line of succession.

The current Counsellors of the monarch include Queen Camilla, sons William and Harry, brother Andrew, and niece Princess Beatrice. Prince Harry, fifth in line to the throne, is noted as a potential figure in this role.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams explained, "If the monarch is incapacitated or abroad, Counsellors of State can stand in for them. They act in pairs." However, he noted that Charles' slimmer monarchy might face challenges with only four individuals under 70.

Previous reports suggested a reconciliation between King Charles and Prince Harry after the Duke of Sussex reached out at the end of 2023. Although efforts for Harry's return to the UK are underway, Fitzwilliams emphasized that specific roles in the monarchy are pending.

While rumors circulate about new roles for Harry and Meghan Markle, Fitzwilliams acknowledged William's potential dissatisfaction with the arrangements. Despite speculations, the royal expert asserted that Harry and disgraced Prince Andrew would not likely be considered for the role in any case.
