Once sharing a close bond with the children of his elder brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law Kate Middleton, Prince Harry's decision to leave the royal family and relocate to the US with Meghan Markle strained their relationship. The former royals, now parents to Prince Archie (4) and Princess Lilibet (2), have not had the opportunity to introduce their children to their royal cousins.
Royal expert Phil Dampier expressed the sadness of the situation, stating, "It just highlights how tragic it is that the royal cousins are on different sides of the Atlantic and not having a relationship." Dampier added that despite any issues with the adults, Prince Harry likely regrets not being able to have a relationship with his niece and nephews.
Having spent over three decades within a close-knit family, Prince Harry, known for his fondness for children, is believed to feel a significant void in missing out on family occasions. Dampier pointed out that the younger royals, George, Charlotte, and Louis, who were 6, 4, and 1 respectively when Harry left his royal duties, must miss having him as an uncle.
