Royal author Robert Hardman, in his new book, suggests that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have caused irritation to the late Queen Elizabeth by implying she approved the name for their daughter, Lilibet.
Lilibet was a personal nickname of the late monarch, and Harry and Meghan named their daughter after her. However, the revelation in Hardman's book has stirred controversy, with royal author Richard Fitzwilliams stating that the Sussexes are "highly unlikely to comment on any of this."
Fitzwilliams added that their silence will likely convey their stance, especially in the aftermath of the royal race row sparked by Omid Scobie’s book, Endgame. According to Fitzwilliams, the revelations in Hardman's book portray Harry and Meghan as "calculating and deeply selfish."
In a statement issued at the time of Lilibet's birth, the Sussexes asserted that they would not have chosen the name if the Queen was not "supportive." Fitzwilliams suggests that the recent revelations about the Queen's last hours and her reaction to their announcement may not have been well-received in Montecito, where the couple resides.
