Prince William Advised on Approach with Children Amid Kate's Surgery

Prince William has been cautioned against giving his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, false hope regarding the return of their mother, Kate Middleton, who is hospitalized for up to two weeks following abdominal surgery.

Child psychologist Dr. Catherine Wikholm advised the Duke of Cambridge to be mindful of potential unsettlement among the children. She emphasized that young children might be apprehensive about the idea of a parent not returning home or something going wrong during the operation.

Dr. Wikholm noted, "They may also worry something may happen to their other parent too."

In dealing with the children's inquiries about their mother's condition, Dr. Wikholm recommended that Prince William remain calm and honest. She suggested responding to questions in an age-appropriate manner, providing minimal details, especially if some aspects are uncertain.

"They are likely to ask questions about why their mummy is in hospital, what is wrong with them, what will be happening to them, and most importantly, when will they be back home?" added Dr. Wikholm.
