According to a royal source, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are eager to "celebrate the efforts of those personnel abroad, often away from their family and friends, fighting in conflicts that are a long way from home."
The initiative reflects a renewed commitment to acknowledging the dedication of armed forces personnel, emphasizing the royals' strong sense of duty in representing the armed forces.
Last year, Prince William visited Poland to pay tribute to soldiers engaged in the Ukrainian war against Russia. Both William and Kate have been closely associated with the armed forces, with roles assigned to them following King Charles' ascension to the throne.
Prince William serves as Colonel-in-Chief of The Army Air Corps, and Kate holds the role of Colonel-in-Chief of the 1st Queen’s Dragoon Guards. Additionally, Prince William has a military background, having served as a Platoon Commander in The Blues and Royals in the Army and as an RAF Search and Rescue pilot in the Royal Air Force.
