Before undergoing a pre-planned abdominal surgery, Princess Kate exhibited signs of discomfort during her final public appearance on Christmas Day at Sandringham last month.
According to body language expert Jess Ponce III, who spoke to The List, there were subtle grimaces observed upon close observation, but Kate's overall demeanor remained pleasant as she descended the stairs with her children.
Kate underwent the surgery at a private London Clinic earlier this week, and as per a statement from Kensington Palace, she is expected to spend a fortnight in the hospital before returning home to continue her recovery.
Ponce explained that the mother of three made a conscious effort to hide her unease behind her characteristic smile as she interacted with the crowd. He noted, "Her unease was minimal, only revealing itself in fleeting moments between smiles when she gazed blankly ahead. Those instances only seemed to happen when she was moving."
Despite these moments, Ponce praised Kate for maintaining her composure, describing her as a "true royal." He expressed admiration, stating, "[Kate] portrayed herself as a true royal, unruffled by any underlying issues. It appeared as though everything was in perfect order."
