Queen Elizabeth Allegedly Estranged from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Over Lilibet Naming Controversy

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced public scrutiny as reports emerged that Queen Elizabeth had reportedly 'disowned' them following their decision to name their daughter Lilibet without the late Monarch's consent.

Lilibet was a cherished childhood nickname used by the Queen, affectionately given by her father and Prince Philip. The unauthorized use of this intimate term by Harry and Meghan led to negative headlines, according to claims made by royal author Robert Hardman in his latest book, "Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story."

Hardman's historical account suggests that the late Queen expressed deep disappointment over the couple's naming choice. Allegedly, she remarked to her aides, "I don't own the palaces. I don't own the paintings. The only thing I own is my name. And now they've taken that."

Interpreting Queen Elizabeth's sentiments, former editor of The Sun, Kelvin MacKenzie, shared his analysis on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "'I don’t own the palaces. I don’t own the paintings. The only thing I own is my name. And now they’ve taken that.' This quote, reportedly spoken by Queen Elizabeth to her aides upon learning of Harry and Meghan's use of the term Lilibet, a deeply personal moniker reserved for her closest family and friends, signifies a notable shift in her perception of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex."

MacKenzie added, "Clearly, the late Queen no longer regarded the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as family or friends."
