Royal historian Marlene Koenig, in an interview with Express US, offered her expert perspective on the reports suggesting that Prince Charles seeks "more control" over the monarchy. Koenig clarified, "You always have this. There’s always this, quote-on-quote rivalry, between heir and sovereign."
She further added, "I don’t think it’s a rivalry. William is forging his path and defining his role as the heir, considering constitutional obligations. He observed his father's actions, which were commendable, and now he’s navigating his own path, albeit in a different manner."
Highlighting Prince William's individual approach, Koenig stated, "William is finding his own ways as an heir, and, of course, he is not excluded by his father."
Recent reports indicated that King Charles, who has spent 70 years as the heir to the throne, held a significant meeting with William and Kate to discuss the future of the monarchy.
This discussion arose amidst increasing calls for the King to pass the crown to the heir, following the example of Denmark's Queen Margrethe II. A source revealed, "William does not want his father to abdicate. He wants the King to continue until the right time comes. He is a real strength of the monarch."
