Following "successful abdominal surgery," the Princess of Wales, currently hospitalized, is anticipated to spend a fortnight in recovery. Subsequently, the 42-year-old is slated to continue her healing journey at Adelaide Cottage—a residence she and Prince William moved into in 2022 at the heart of the Windsor estate.
However, a cautionary note from a royal expert suggests the four-bedroom property might not be the optimal setting for her recovery.
Royal correspondent Michael Cole shared with GB News, "She'll be in the hospital for up to two weeks as she improves, and I hope that she does so rapidly."
He added, "...once fully recovered, the plan is for her to convalesce initially at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, where they have a residence on the grounds. It seems they'll stay there, mainly because the children are in school, and she wishes to be close to them."
Disclosing a lesser-known detail about the home, Mr. Cole mentioned, "It's not an absolutely ideal place. Mrs. Rosemary Townsend, a former tenant of Adelaide Cottage, wrote in her memoirs that it was the coldest place she'd ever encountered in her entire life. Perhaps not the best place to start feeling better, especially in this quite cold winter we're experiencing at the moment."
As per a statement from Kensington Palace on Wednesday, Kate is expected to remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days. The mother-of-three won't resume royal duties until "after Easter," as confirmed by the palace.
Although the statement doesn't delve into the specifics of Kate's health, it affirms the success of the surgery. Prince William was spotted visiting his wife in the hospital on Thursday, January 18; however, their children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—have not had the chance to visit their mother yet.
Reportedly taking a hiatus from royal duties to maintain a sense of normality for their three children, William is determined to continue handling the school run for George, 10, Charlotte, eight, and Louis, five.
