Bob Odenkirk Discovers Surprising Connection to King Charles

In a revelation that left him stunned, "Better Call Saul" star Bob Odenkirk has uncovered an unexpected familial tie to King Charles. During an upcoming episode of the popular PBS program Finding Your Roots, hosted by Henry Louis Gates Jr., the 61-year-old actor learns of his blood relation to the British monarch.

Odenkirk's astonishment was palpable as he processed the revelation of being 11th cousins with King Charles. Reflecting on this unlikely connection, the actor humorously described it as "crazy."

The connection to royalty emerged from Odenkirk's paternal lineage, a side of his family about which he has limited knowledge due to his father's absence from his life since age 15. Gates revealed that Odenkirk's father's fifth great-grandfather was born to Maria Catharina Bein and the Duke of Plön, though out of wedlock.

Before learning of his royal lineage, Odenkirk expressed some surprising sentiments, asserting his American identity and lack of belief in monarchism. "I'm an American. I'm not a monarchist. I don't believe in, uh, that," he remarked, adding a critical perspective on the institution of monarchy and its generational continuity.
