Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson, famously known as the 'hot equerry' and trusted aide to King Charles III, has reportedly decided to step away from the limelight.
As per The Times' reports on February 23rd, the 40-year-old senior aide intends to transition to a different role following considerable public attention due to his remarkable presence.
Sources from the palace revealed that Thompson will continue his service as the senior equerry to both the King and Queen but in a more behind-the-scenes capacity.
It was mentioned that he has accompanied the King to numerous prestigious events but found the level of public scrutiny overwhelming.
During his shift towards a more secluded role, Thompson, last seen accompanying the royal family to the Church of St Mary Magdalene on Christmas Day, is expected to maintain his support for the 75-year-old King, who recently disclosed his cancer battle.
Thompson rose to prominence on social media after a video from King Charles's accession in September 2022 went viral.
The clip, now boasting over 8.6 million views on TikTok, features him elegantly attired in a navy blue suit, handling bags and an umbrella as he moves through the gates of Buckingham Palace following Queen Elizabeth's demise.
Online commentators praised Thompson's demeanor, with many drawing comparisons to "James Bond" for his sophisticated presence.
