Following His Cancer Disclosure, King Charles Expresses Gratitude for Public's Response
King Charles, who recently revealed his battle with cancer, expresses gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from the British people.
The 75-year-old monarch's diagnosis, announced earlier this month, has sparked discussions about the monarchy's future given his health condition.
In a video shared on the royal family's official social media platforms on Friday, the King is shown sorting through a multitude of Get Well cards and letters sent to uplift his spirits.
Since the announcement of his cancer diagnosis, the Correspondent Team at Buckingham Palace has received over 7,000 letters and cards from around the world, with a selection sent to the King in his daily red box of paperwork, as depicted in the video.
"The correspondence includes personal accounts of cancer experiences as well as heartfelt wishes and advice for a speedy recovery," the text accompanying the clip states.
A direct message from King Charles is also relayed, expressing appreciation: "Such kind thoughts provide the greatest comfort and encouragement."
Amidst receiving treatment for his cancer, the King has been shuttling between Clarence House and the Sandringham estate while scaling back on royal duties.
During his recent face-to-face meeting with British PM Rishi Sunak, he acknowledged that the outpouring of public support during this challenging period has "brought me to tears."
