King Frederik and Queen Mary Gear Up for Debut State Visit in May

Following Queen Margrethe's January 2024 abdication, King Frederik and Queen Mary will embark on their inaugural joint journey.

Set for the summer season, King Frederik and Queen Mary will make their maiden foreign state tour as the Danish monarchs.

Their itinerary includes visits to Sweden and Norway in May to meet with the Nordic monarchs, as announced by GB News.

The royal proclamation from Copenhagen's palace heralds, "The King and Queen's first official state visit to Sweden in early May will inaugurate a comprehensive tour across the Northern region."

Highlighting the significance, the statement emphasizes, "These initial state visits offer King Frederik and Queen Mary the opportunity to engage with the sovereigns in Sweden and Norway, reinforcing the close ties among the Nordic monarchies."

While plans for an official visit to the Faroe Islands and Greenland remain "tentative," expectations are high for the Danish monarchs to grace these lands in June and July.

In a separate development, King Frederik embarked on his inaugural overseas journey as monarch last week, albeit without the Queen.

King Frederik's ascension to the throne in January, following Queen Margrethe's abdication, marks the first such instance in Danish history in over 1105 years.
