Legal Controversy Surrounds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's New Website

In 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made the decision to step away from their royal duties.

Recently, the couple unveiled a fresh online platform named Sussex.com, sparking speculation about potential disapproval from Buckingham Palace.

Sussex.com follows their earlier venture, SussexRoyal.com, launched in tandem with their departure from the Royal Family and the United Kingdom.

Critics have scrutinized the Sussexes' latest digital endeavor, with royal commentator Michael Cole suggesting it would likely face opposition within Buckingham Palace.

During a discussion with TalkTV hosts Kevin O’Sullivan and Alex Phillips on CrossTalk, Cole remarked, "The reception at Buckingham Palace for this new website would undoubtedly be negative. The intentions behind its use remain unclear, but any move towards commercialization would be met with strong disapproval, particularly in Britain. It contradicts royal norms and traditions."

He continued, "This initiative further demonstrates a lack of sensitivity on their part. If they aim to mend fences, this approach only widens the divide and is unlikely to be well-received."

Cole emphasized the legal implications, stating, "It is unlawful to exploit royal titles or residences for commercial gain. Despite retaining their royal status upon relocating to Canada and later California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were expressly forbidden from leveraging their titles for personal gain."
