Meghan Markle Faces Ridicule Over New Podcast Partnership: 'Such a Downgrade!'

Meghan Markle's recent collaboration with Lemonada Media has sparked mockery and comparison to her previous multi-million dollar deal with Spotify.

The Duchess of Sussex announced her partnership with Lemonada Media, a female-founded company, on Tuesday, February 13th.

While the terms of the deal were not disclosed, particularly the monetary aspect, observers swiftly labeled it a "downgrade" from her previous arrangement with Spotify.

Commentators on X (formerly Twitter) speculated on the reasons behind the perceived downgrade. One user remarked, "I’m guessing after a year and a half, this was the best deal she could get. No monetary amount was included so I imagine she’s getting pennies now compared to Spotify."

Critics also highlighted Lemonada Media's relatively modest revenue of $8 million in 2022, underscoring the perceived diminishment of Meghan's new partnership compared to her previous high-profile deal.

"Lemonada media only generated 8 million in revenue in 2022. This is such a downgrade from Spotify. She would have to earn revenue from streaming numbers and no big massive upfront money," another user lamented.

Recall that Meghan and Prince Harry had previously secured a $20 million deal with Spotify, which included the release of Meghan's podcast series, Archetypes, in 2022. However, the partnership was abruptly terminated in the summer of 2023 after only one season of the series.
