Meghan Markle Requests 'Ma'am' Title from Invictus Games Officials

Meghan Markle's recent directive adds fuel to royal title debate

During a recent gathering, Meghan Markle specifically requested that Invictus Games officials address her as "Ma'am," adding a layer of intrigue to the ongoing controversy surrounding royal titles.

Presently in Vancouver, Canada, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are partaking in preparations for the forthcoming rendition of the Invictus Games scheduled for the city next year.

According to insights from Daily Mail's royal author Richard Eden, Scott Moore, the new CEO of the esteemed veteran game competition, sought clarity on preferred titles for Meghan and Prince Harry.

"I did make sure to ask how I should be addressing them when they get here. I was told a simple 'Sir' and 'Ma'am' is fine,” Moore informed Eden.

While "Sir" and "Ma'am" are conventional titles used to address the royal family, it raises eyebrows given that Harry and Meghan relinquished their rights to such honors upon stepping down as senior members of the family in 2020.

The Daily Express notes that "Sir" and "Ma'am" typically follow the initial greeting of 'Your Royal Highness' when addressing the royal family.

The decision by Harry and Meghan to adopt the title "Sussex" as a surname for their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, following King Charles' coronation last year, further stirs controversy surrounding their choice of titles and the dynamics of their royal status.

This latest development comes on the heels of the couple's contentious website launch under the banner of Sussex.com, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing debate surrounding their royal titles and privileges.
