Prince Harry Considers U.S. Citizenship Amidst Life in California

Prince Harry, who departed from royal life in 2020 and settled in California with his family, has revealed that he is contemplating obtaining United States citizenship.

In an interview with Good Morning America, Harry shared that while the idea of American citizenship has crossed his mind, it currently holds low priority in his considerations. He and his wife Meghan, along with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are embracing their chosen lifestyle in Montecito, far removed from their former life in the UK.

The Duke emphasized his focus on raising his young children in the United States, underscoring his current state of mind. However, some commentators speculate that Harry's interest in citizenship could be influenced by his past admission of drug use in his memoir, "Spare."

There are concerns that Harry's application might face hurdles due to US immigration policies, particularly regarding his previous drug use. Nonetheless, legal experts have suggested that as long as there are no criminal charges or judicial findings against him for drug-related issues, his memoir disclosures should not pose significant obstacles to his application.

Despite his continued use of the title Duke of Sussex for his professional and charitable pursuits, US immigration regulations mandate that any applicant holding titles of heredity or positions of nobility in foreign states must renounce them publicly as part of the citizenship process.

Prince Harry's potential acquisition of US citizenship reflects his ongoing transition away from his royal lineage towards a more independent life in America with his family.
