Prince Harry Settles Phone Hacking Lawsuit, Lambasts Piers Morgan

Amidst his absence from Friday's court proceedings, Prince Harry emerged victorious in his legal battle against the publisher of the Daily Mirror, garnering substantial damages in his phone hacking lawsuit.

In a scathing rebuke, the Duke of Sussex took aim at Piers Morgan, persisting with criticism even after reaching a settlement with Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) that includes an interim payment of £400,000 towards legal costs.

Delivered by his barrister David Sherborne outside the High Court, Prince Harry, 39, asserted, "In light of this, we call again for the authorities to uphold the rule of law and to prove that no one is above it. That includes Mr. Morgan, who, as editor, knew perfectly well what was going on, as the judge held."

Continuing his condemnation, he emphasized, "His disdain for the court's verdict and his ongoing attacks underscore the necessity of securing a definitive and comprehensive judgment."

In December, a judge at the same court ruled that Mr. Morgan was complicit in phone hacking during his tenure as editor of the Daily Mirror, prompting the duke to secure damages of £140,600 against MGN.

Responding to the ruling outside his west London residence, Mr. Morgan reiterated his innocence, stating, "I want to reiterate, as I've consistently said for many years now – I've never hacked a phone or instructed anyone else to do so. And no one has provided any concrete evidence to substantiate such claims."

Prince Harry reaffirmed his commitment to effecting positive change through his ongoing legal battles against tabloid media, emphasizing that his "mission continues" despite Friday's resolution. This follows a landmark trial last June, during which Prince Harry became the first royal to testify in court, resulting in the revelation that 15 out of 33 articles under review had been sourced through illicit means.

While absent from Friday's hearing, Prince Harry made a brief visit to Britain earlier in the week to visit his father, the king, following news of his cancer diagnosis.
