The Duke of Sussex reportedly engaged in a 30 to 45-minute discussion with his father, King Charles.
Prince Harry apparently made an impromptu decision to meet with King Charles after receiving a personal phone call from him.
Although the monarch's call regarding his cancer diagnosis brought his estranged younger son to his side, Charles harbored mixed emotions about the encounter.
The Duke of Sussex engaged in a 30 to 45-minute conversation with his father, who may have been both "touched" and unsettled by his son's sudden appearance, according to royal expert Robert Jobson,
"The reality is both more complex and more troubling – that Harry caused some disquiet by ‘taking it upon himself’ to fly over unbidden and at such short notice," a source informed Jobson.
The expert noted that Charles "just needs peace and quiet right now and had planned to fly off to the tranquility of Norfolk with his wife, the Queen, much earlier on Tuesday," until Harry disrupted their plans.
Jobson further revealed that the King and Queen were "left kicking their heels at Clarence House, their main London home, while they waited for the errant younger son to appear."
During their brief encounter, the King apparently granted Harry enough time for a hug and a kiss before resuming his scheduled activities, departing for Sandringham from the chopper stationed at Buckingham Palace.
