Prince William Apologizes as Princess of Wales Misses Prominent Event

Princess of Wales to Extend Public Absence for Continued Recovery Until After Easter

Prince William, serving as President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) since 2010, took center stage at this year's EE Film Awards without the presence of the Princess of Wales.

In a conversation with Elaine Bedell, CEO of the Southbank Centre, the Prince expressed regret for Catherine's absence, stating, "I’m sorry Catherine’s not here. She does love the BAFTAs."

Despite his prominent role within the awards, Prince William confessed to watching "the fewest" number of films this year, citing other pressing matters occupying his mind.

He also shared that all the films he views, Catherine watches alongside him.

While Prince William attended last year's awards with the Princess of Wales, this year he walked the red carpet alone and was seated next to actress and Earthshot Prize Council member Cate Blanchett during the ceremony.

Concerns regarding the Princess of Wales' health emerged following her recent abdominal surgery. Kensington Palace announced that she is unlikely to resume public duties until after Easter, following her discharge from the hospital in late January.
