Prince William's Earthshot Prize Charity Outshines Harry and Meghan's Archewell Foundation

Prince William's Earthshot Prize charity has achieved remarkable success, raising £22.5 million in nine months, signaling robust financial backing.

In contrast, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Archewell Foundation experienced a significant decline in revenue last year.

Established by Prince William in 2019, the Earthshot Prize recognizes individuals tackling some of the world's most pressing environmental issues, as articulated by the Prince of Wales.

Initially administered by the Royal Foundation, founded by Prince William and Prince Harry in 2009, the Earthshot Prize became a separate charity in 2022.

According to accounts published by the Charity Commission, the new Earthshot Prize charity generated £22.5 million in income during its first nine months. While the Royal Foundation contributed £8.6 million, the remainder stemmed from various sources.

Donations amounted to £7 million, with over £3 million attributed to "gifts in kind." Additionally, a grant from the American Friends of the Royal Foundation contributed £2.7 million, while sponsorship and licensing income accounted for £1.1 million.

In contrast, figures from the US tax authorities revealed a stark contrast in Archewell Foundation's performance. Donations plummeted by £8.7 million, dropping from £10.3 million to under £1.6 million within a year. Consequently, Archewell incurred a loss of £535,000 for 2022, with expenses totaling £2.1 million.

The disparity in financial outcomes underscores the contrasting trajectories between Prince William's Earthshot Prize charity and Prince Harry and Meghan's Archewell Foundation.
