Despite Prince Harry's efforts to integrate into American society, a significant portion of Americans hold a nuanced and often negative perception of him and Meghan Markle.
American musician Huey Morgan shared insights with the Daily Express regarding the general sentiment towards the Sussexes, who relocated to Montecito, California, following their departure from royal duties in 2020.
Morgan commented, "They renounced their royal titles, so essentially, Prince Harry is just another guy living in America among 340 million others."
He continued, "In America, people don't necessarily see Prince Harry and Meghan as royalty. Instead, they view Charles, William, and Kate as the quintessential royals. Harry, on the other hand, is perceived as the family member who opted out."
Morgan further elaborated on the public perception, particularly after recent royal family controversies, stating, "Following the Queen's passing and subsequent events, many Americans feel that Prince Harry has let down the royal family."
He added, "His relocation to the U.S. with his American spouse and his comments from across the pond have not been received favorably by all."
However, Morgan acknowledged the dual nature of public opinion, noting, "Another perspective is that Harry has suffered significant personal loss with the death of his mother, fueling his discontent."
He concluded by highlighting the complex dynamics at play in American perceptions of Prince Harry, suggesting that while some view him as a royal who has lost his way, others empathize with his personal struggles and past traumas.
