Buckingham Palace Prepares for Grand Special Event Amid Health Concerns

Kate Middleton Diagnosed with Cancer at 42

Buckingham Palace is gearing up for a significant upcoming event, despite health challenges faced by senior members of the Royal Family.

According to reports, Princess Anne is set to host the annual Not Forgotten Association Garden Party at the Palace. This historic event, a tradition since 1921, was previously hosted by the Duchess of Edinburgh last year and is the only garden party at the palace not hosted by the reigning monarch.

The Not Forgotten Association is a charitable organization dedicated to providing entertainment, leisure, and recreation for disabled, injured, or sick ex-servicemen and women.

Princess Anne last hosted the event in 2022, alongside her husband, Sir Timothy Lawrence. The Royal Family has been involved with the charity since its inception in 1920, aiming to uplift the spirits of wounded ex-servicemen still hospitalized due to the Great War.

Princess Mary was the charity's first Royal Patron, a role she held until her passing in 1956. Princess Anne took over as Patron in 2000, following the Duchess of Kent.

The list of royals who have graced the occasion includes the late Queen Elizabeth, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, and Prince Harry.

While the event's early years saw informal gatherings with guests engaging in lawn sports, today's garden party is a more formal affair, always under royal patronage.

As senior royals step back from public duties due to health reasons, Princess Anne, Queen Camilla, and the Duchess of Edinburgh have been increasing their royal engagements.

King Charles and Princess Kate, currently undergoing treatment for undisclosed cancers, continue to refrain from public appearances. Earlier this week, Princess Anne honored the victims of the Lockerbie bombing during a visit to Dumfries.
