Kate Middleton Releases First Statement Celebrating New Title Amid Recovery

Prince William and Kate Middleton commemorate their newfound titles as the Princess of Wales progresses in her recovery from major abdominal surgery, much to the delight of their supporters.

In a heartwarming gesture on social media, the Prince and Princess of Wales jointly shared their inaugural statement since concerns arose about royal health, coinciding with St. David’s Day.

On Friday, Kensington Palace unveiled a charming video featuring Prince William and Princess Kate, accompanied by their statement, on various social media platforms.

In her debut statement post-surgery, Kate, alongside William, expressed, "We are honored to serve as Colonel and Colonel-in-Chief of the Welsh Guards and 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards. Happy St. David’s Day!"

It's noteworthy that palace staff hurriedly corrected a social media post on Friday morning, which initially misstated Prince William and Princess Kate’s new royal ranks. March 1 marks St. David’s Day, a revered celebration in Wales since the 12th century, and a significant event in the royal calendar, paying tribute to Saint David.

Last year, the royal couple commemorated this special occasion by visiting the Welsh Guard for the St. David's Day Parade.

Initially, from Prince William and Kate’s public account, palace insiders erroneously indicated that the couple were "proud to be Patrons of both the Welsh Guards and the Queen’s Dragoon Guards." However, realizing these designations didn't accurately reflect the official titles of the Prince and Princess of Wales, the post was promptly amended.

Kate was bestowed the title of Colonel-in-Chief of 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards by King Charles in August 2023. Meanwhile, William assumed the role of Colonel of the Welsh Guards in December 2022.

The latest statement from William and Kate follows a significant update from the Palace regarding Kate's recovery, aimed at dispelling rumors of a "coma conspiracy." The Palace reiterated, "Kensington Palace clarified the timeline of the princess’ recovery in January, and significant updates will be provided accordingly. That directive remains unchanged.”
