Amidst ongoing discussions about their potential return to the UK, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have stirred debate regarding forgiveness from both the British public and the royal family.
While some commentators speculate that the British public would extend forgiveness to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex upon their return, opinions within the royal family remain divided. Despite this, some royal experts suggest that King Charles and the rest of the royal family may be willing to forgive Prince Harry, although Meghan's path to reconciliation may be more challenging.
Peter Andrew, speaking on GB News, expressed the sentiment that the British public has a forgiving nature: "The British public are incredibly forgiving." He added, "If he comes back and apologises, I do think the British public would be like that. That’s the beautiful thing about this country."
However, there is a divergence of opinion regarding Meghan Markle's reception. Host Ellie Costello suggested that forgiveness might be easier for Harry than for Meghan: "I think people definitely forgive Harry. I think there's a lot of love and affection there for Harry, especially after what happened to his mother. People have a soft spot in their hearts for Harry but I don't think people would forgive her."
The couple's reported plans for a UK relaunch and Meghan's hiring of a UK-based PR executive indicate their desire to improve their image in Britain. Nonetheless, their return remains a topic of debate, reflecting the complexities of their relationship with both the public and the royal family.
