King Charles Braces for Emotional Easter Sunday Marking Third Anniversary of Prince Philip's Death

King Charles is preparing to face a somber Easter Sunday this year, as the holiday coincides with the third anniversary of his father Prince Philip's passing. Royal expert Phil Dampier recently spoke about the emotional weight of this upcoming holiday for the 75-year-old monarch.

Despite his ongoing battle with cancer, King Charles is expected to attend the Easter Sunday church service at St George's Chapel alongside his wife, Queen Camilla, albeit in a limited capacity.

"It's reassuring to hear that the King is well enough to join the Queen and other members of the Royal Family for the Easter service at Windsor," Dampier told Fabulous. "However, this Easter will undoubtedly be a poignant time for him as he reminisces about past holidays."

Dampier also shared a touching anecdote about the relationship between King Charles and his late father. "Prince Philip passed away on Easter Sunday three years ago at the age of 99, just two months shy of his 100th birthday," the royal expert revealed. "Charles had planned a birthday celebration for him, to which Prince Philip quipped, 'I'd still have to be here, wouldn't I?' Charles responded, 'I knew you'd say that.'"

While their relationship was not always close, Dampier noted that the bond between King Charles and Prince Philip grew stronger in later years. "Despite periods of estrangement, Charles came to love and respect his father deeply as time went on," he added.

Prince Philip, the late Duke of Edinburgh, passed away on April 9, 2021, with his cause of death officially attributed to old age.

As King Charles navigates this emotional Easter Sunday, the public can expect a day of reflection and remembrance for the monarch and his family.
