Meghan Markle Condemns 'Cruel' Cyberbullies at SXSW Panel

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry's wife, opened up about the distressing cyberbullying she endured during pivotal moments in her life, particularly during her pregnancies.

During a panel discussion at SXSW on Friday, Markle revealed that she faced a significant amount of online abuse, especially while pregnant with her children, Archie and Lilibet.

"The bulk of the bullying and the abuse that I was experiencing in social media and online was when I was pregnant — with Archie and with Lili — and with a newborn with each of them," the former Suits star, 42, disclosed.

Joined by Brooke Shields, Katie Couric, and author and sociologist Nancy Wang Yuen, Markle addressed the issue of online trolling and urged listeners, including her husband Prince Harry, to contemplate the reasons behind such hateful behavior.

"It’s not catty, it’s cruel," she emphasized. "Why would you do that?"

Markle's candid discussion echoed her previous revelations, including her struggles with online hate during her and Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, where she disclosed contemplating suicide due to the relentless online abuse.

Markle's experiences highlight the pervasive issue of cyberbullying, particularly targeting individuals during vulnerable moments, and call for greater awareness and action to combat online harassment.
