Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are at the center of a new scandal involving allegations of receiving millions of dollars from a Turkish financier accused of corruption.
According to a recent ruling by the High Court, the Duke and Duchess of York allegedly received over £1 million from Selman Turk, who is purportedly a corrupt figure acting on behalf of Turkish millionaire Nebahat Isbilen.
In the lawsuit, Isbilen claims that Turk deceived her into making a payment of £750,000 to Prince Andrew after falsely promising assistance in obtaining a passport.
The former Goldman Sachs banker, however, contests Isbilen's allegations, stating that the money was a "gift to the Duke of York" in celebration of his daughter Princess Eugenie's wedding to Edoardo Mozzi in 2020.
The connection between the Yorks and Turk reportedly originated through Tarek Kaituni, a convicted Libyan gun smuggler with ties to Colonel Gaddafi.
Furthermore, Prince Andrew received £170,000 from Alphabet, a company linked to Turk, within a week. Sarah Ferguson expressed her gratitude to Turk in an email, referring to herself as "Sarah, the friend of Tarek," and inviting Turk and his wife to dinner at Royal Lodge.
High Court Judge Sir Anthony Mann revealed that Turk had visited Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's residence 20 or 30 times.
In light of the allegations, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have reached a private settlement with Nebahat Isbilen, which effectively halts further scrutiny into their involvement in the intricate legal proceedings against Turk and various offshore entities.
