In a recent legal development, Prince Harry's court case against the UK government regarding security provision ended in his favor.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's accounts of a harrowing car chase with paparazzi last year have been substantiated in the latest court filing.
According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were indeed involved in a "reckless" and "persistently dangerous" car pursuit while returning from an event with Meghan's mother, Doria, in May 2023.
This revelation came to light during a Wednesday hearing for Prince Harry's lawsuit against the Home Office regarding his security protection in the UK.
As reported by the Daily Beast, a senior NYPD officer identified two individuals eligible for arrest on charges of reckless endangerment.
Details outlined in a letter dated December 6, 2023, addressed to the Metropolitan Police in London revealed the NYPD's Chief of Intelligence's commitment to enhancing security measures for the Sussexes during future visits.
The intelligence chief's letter stated, "We observed reckless disregard of vehicle and traffic laws and persistently dangerous and unacceptable behavior by the paparazzi during the incident in question."
"The individuals operated vehicles, scooters, and bicycles in a manner that necessitated evasive actions by the security team, including an NYPD Lead Car, to avoid collision or entrapment on side streets," the letter continued.
"After consultation with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, we have concluded that there is sufficient evidence to proceed with the arrest of two individuals for reckless endangerment."
Harry and Meghan faced widespread ridicule when their initial claims surfaced last year.
