Amid the ongoing health crisis affecting the royal family, Princess Eugenie appears to be content focusing on her personal life rather than stepping into royal duties.
Following King Charles' cancer diagnosis and subsequent retreat from public engagements for treatment, as well as Kate Middleton's recent cancer diagnosis leading her and Prince William to withdraw from public duties, the royal family is experiencing significant shifts in their roles and responsibilities.
Grant Harrold, the monarch's former butler, shed some light on Princess Eugenie's perspective in an interview with The Post. Harrold suggested that Eugenie might be hesitant to embrace full-time royal duties due to the all-consuming nature of the role. "The royal schedule demands a full commitment that you can't simply turn on and off," he remarked.
Princess Eugenie, who welcomed her second son, Ernest, in May 2023 with husband Jack Brooksbank, is also a devoted mother to three-year-old August. According to Harrold, Eugenie is passionate about pursuing her own career and may be reluctant to take on the demanding responsibilities that come with being a working senior member of the royal family.
"However, as the situation within the royal family becomes increasingly challenging, it's possible we may see Eugenie reconsider her stance and transition into a more active role," Harrold added.
While Princess Eugenie may currently prioritize her personal aspirations over royal duties, her future role within the royal family remains a topic of speculation as the family navigates these difficult times.
