Following the recent announcement of her daughter Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis, Carole Middleton has encountered further difficulties related to her family business.
The administration firm responsible for overseeing the insolvency of Carole's business, Party Pieces, has revealed an inability to fully cover its fees.
Last year, Party Pieces, a venture founded by Carole and Michael Middleton specializing in children's parties, faced financial hardships and eventually went into administration. This left creditors facing a £2.6 million debt. Interpath Advisory was appointed to manage the company's collapse.
Recent findings from Interpath indicate that £268,928 in advisory time costs cannot be recuperated from Party Pieces' assets. The extended hours required to meet statutory obligations during the insolvency process contributed to this shortfall.
Party Pieces, launched in 1987, initially focused on children's parties but later diversified to include decorations and gifts. The business, like many others, struggled with reduced sales during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to its eventual sale to entrepreneur James Sinclair for £180,000.
Carole, aged 69, had stepped back from the daily operations of Party Pieces in 2019 but resumed a more active role in 2023 when the company sought a rescue deal. Currently residing in Bucklebury, near the Prince and Princess of Wales's residence at Adelaide Cottage, Carole and Michael are known to be involved grandparents to their grandchildren: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, as well as Pippa's children Arthur, Grace, and Rose Matthews, and James's son Inigo Middleton with his wife, Alizee Thevenet.
Amid these financial and health challenges, the Middleton family continues to support Kate Middleton as she undergoes cancer treatment and spends quality time with her loved ones.
