Heartfelt Lunch Between King Charles and Kate Precedes Cancer Announcement

Taking a break from royal obligations, Kate and William prioritize family time with their children.

In the poignant hours leading up to Kate's public announcement of her cancer diagnosis, King Charles and the Duchess of Cambridge shared a deeply touching private meal.

Sources reveal that the 75-year-old monarch engaged in an intimate heart-to-heart with his daughter-in-law at Windsor Castle on Thursday. Charles undertook the journey from London to Berkshire in response to Kate's wish to confide in him regarding her health news.

"It's quite uncommon for them to have such a private moment together. Charles, who affectionately calls Kate 'my beloved daughter-in-law,' was already aware of her health battle. The emotional weight of the lunch left a mark on him," shared an insider.

During their heartfelt conversation, it's reported that Charles and the 42-year-old Kate discussed her recently recorded video message. In the video, released the following day, Kate admitted the diagnosis was a "tremendous shock" but remained optimistic about her recovery.

A source informed The Sun, "Given Charles' recent initiation of treatment and his own announcement of a health concern, they had much to empathize and connect over. Their bond is profound, and Charles regards Catherine as a cherished daughter."

Before their lunch, Charles was privy to Kate's health challenges. Additionally, Queen Camilla has been a consistent source of support, maintaining frequent communication with Kate.

Stepping away from official duties, Kate and William are dedicating time to their children: George, 10, Charlotte, eight, and Louis, five. Prince William is expected to resume his royal responsibilities after the Easter recess.
