In a surprising turn of events, Prince Harry has recently taken steps to sever ties with the royal family.
Meghan Markle has been likened to the American wife of the exiled King Edward VIII, accused of "stealing" Prince Harry.
According to Sean O’Grady, an associate editor at The Independent, the Duchess of Sussex finds herself left scratching her head over the duke’s decision to change his primary residence to the US.
Reflecting on historical parallels, O’Grady remarks, “When King Edward VIII abdicated in 1936, a substantial portion of the British public believed his American girlfriend had ‘stolen our prince’. Perhaps she did, but it seems she was uncertain about what to do with him afterward.”
“It’s not entirely clear what Meghan wants to do with Harry either,” O’Grady adds.
Sean explains that once they left the Firm to start a new life in the States, the couple, now residing in Montecito, scaled back their charitable endeavors, except for their involvement with The Invictus Games and the Archewell Foundation.
He also notes their dwindling pool of experiences suitable for reality-style documentaries, stating, “They can't ‘mine’ much more of their experiences for Netflix.”
This development follows Harry's relocation from the UK to America after vacating Frogmore Cottage in June of the previous year.
