Prince Harry finds himself at odds with his father, King Charles, following what he perceives as a "vindictive" decision that drove him away.
According to royal author Tom Quinn, speaking to The Mirror, the Duke of Sussex expressed his fury and sorrow after his father's decision to evict him from Frogmore Cottage, leaving him in tears.
In a symbolic gesture reflecting his emotions, Prince Harry changed his primary residence from the UK to the US, backdated to June 29, 2023 – the date of his eviction.
Quinn revealed that this eviction was the "last straw" for Harry, especially as it involved his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Although Prince Harry met with his father in February following news of his cancer diagnosis, sparking speculation of a reconciliation, Quinn believes that Harry's move to the US signifies a final farewell.
"Even if Harry were to plead to return to assist, even if King Charles were to fall gravely ill and unable to fulfill his duties, the call for assistance will never extend to Montecito," Quinn explained.
In Quinn's assessment, "Designating the US as his primary residence marks Harry's definitive departure."
