Prince William has openly expressed his dislike for a particular tradition within the royal family, particularly a game that holds a special place in the hearts of his children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Monopoly, a popular board game, does not sit well with Prince William, who finds it to be a source of frustration and tension within the royal household.
During a visit to The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in 2021, Prince William discussed family customs, including the tradition of playing games like Risk and Monopoly on Christmas Day. Despite the enjoyment it brings to others, William admits that Monopoly often leaves him feeling "cross" due to the competitive nature of the game.
"When I see my children interacting with their cousins and enjoying themselves, it's a special moment," William shared with Radio Marsden's Barry Alston. However, he expressed his reservations about Monopoly, acknowledging its tendency to provoke strong emotions among players.
"We enjoy playing Monopoly and Risk," William stated, "even though it often leads to frustration and competition, especially when someone loses."
Interestingly, Monopoly's reputation for causing conflict led to its prohibition within the royal household by the late Queen Elizabeth, as reported by the Daily Express.
