Did King Charles Commit a 'Shocking' Error During His Coronation Anniversary?

As King Charles commemorates one year since his historic Coronation ceremony, alongside Queen Camilla, they mark the first anniversary of their coronation on this Monday, May 6th.

After bravely resuming his royal duties following the announcement of his cancer diagnosis earlier this year, King Charles has found himself under the intense scrutiny of Royal Biographer Angela Levin.

Levin posits that King Charles may have made a misstep during his inaugural year on the throne, suggesting that such a decision would have likely startled his late mother, the Queen.

Despite ongoing cancer treatment, physicians have granted the monarch permission to resume engagements following a positive response to medical intervention.

During a poignant visit to the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre in London, the King openly shared his own battle with cancer, describing it as both "awful" and "shocking."

In reflecting upon the King's first year as monarch on the anniversary of his Coronation, Angela Levin conveyed to GB News her observation that the King has become notably "more caring and accessible" to the British public.

Levin disclosed that both the King and Queen were surprised by the outpouring of support from crowds outside Buckingham Palace following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

In conversation with hosts Ellie Costello and Stephen Dixon, Levin remarked, "It's been a year of both length and brevity in some respects. However, the turning point, where the King became notably more approachable, was after the late Queen's demise, when they returned to Buckingham Palace."

Levin suggests that the King's battle with cancer has contributed to shaping a "distinctive image" of him as a monarch.

Furthermore, Levin highlighted a significant departure from tradition made by the King during his visit, a gesture that would have likely surprised the late Queen.

She revealed, "It was intriguing to witness his deviation from protocol. Outside, two young cancer survivors presented posies to him and Queen Camilla. In a departure from tradition, the King handed them a sizable bag of presents, expressing his desire to reciprocate their kindness."

"Traditionally, royals are expected to receive gifts from the public, not distribute them," Levin explained. "However, his gesture will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on those children, who will cherish the contents of that bag forever."
