King Charles faces the reality of a streamlined monarchy
Reportedly, King Charles is considering involving Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie more prominently in royal engagements, particularly as Kate Middleton undergoes cancer treatment.
In an interview with Charlotte Griffiths of the Daily Mail, a source disclosed that the 75-year-old monarch plans to include them in upcoming events to inject some much-needed "royal glamour" into the monarchy, which has faced challenges due to its slimmed-down nature.
The royal calendar is packed with engagements, including Trooping the Colour, a state banquet, the 80th D-Day anniversary, Ascot, and several Buckingham Palace Garden parties.
The source explained, “They've got a busy diary ahead and they need to expand the family's presence at social events. There's an entire week of Ascot, four garden parties, Trooping the Colour, and a state visit, among other commitments.”
“I believe Beatrice and Eugenie are offering support whenever possible,” they added. “While they have made it clear they are not full-time royals, they are always willing to assist with any duties required.”
A second source echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that the King relies heavily on his sister Princess Anne and brother Edward to support the "positively skeletal" slimmed-down monarchy.
“He is considering bringing in some fresh faces, namely Beatrice and Eugenie. He views them as sensible and admirable women who could be valuable assets. Charles is attentive to public sentiment.
“The public has longed for the return of royal glamour, particularly during this period of slimmed-down monarchy that requires reinforcement.
“Beatrice, in particular, has been eager for an opportunity to shine. Once reserved, her confidence and style have flourished in recent years. She exudes ambition, confidence, and elegance in photographs,” the insider concluded.
