King Charles found himself in a delicate position amid tensions between his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, leading to his decision to decline Harry's request for a meeting during his London visit.
A close friend of Prince William and Kate Middleton revealed to The Daily Beast that the monarch felt compelled to prioritize his eldest son's position, which resulted in him refusing a meeting with his "darling boy," Harry.
Although Charles had previously met with Harry in February after being informed about his cancer diagnosis, William reportedly did not approve of the father-son reunion.
"Charles is acutely aware of William's sentiments regarding the Harry situation, and he must respect his position as the Prince of Wales. Therefore, a narrative attributing the refusal to a misunderstanding could appease all parties involved," the friend explained.
Prince Harry's attendance at the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in London last week fueled speculation about a potential meeting. However, Harry's spokesperson clarified that a meeting was not possible due to the monarch's busy schedule.
Nevertheless, insiders revealed that Harry had approached Charles for a meeting a month prior to his visit.
The friend also suggested that the Palace's handling of the situation might be perceived as "gaslighting" Harry, as it was widely known that he was in London and eager to see Charles.
