King Charles Concerned About Losing Spotlight to Prince Harry as Duke Returns to UK

King Charles is reportedly eager to maintain the focus on his royal duties.

Reports suggest that King Charles has declined a meeting with Prince Harry out of concern that it would overshadow his upcoming royal engagements.

The 75-year-old monarch is scheduled to host a garden party for 5,000 people later today, while the Duke of Sussex prepares to attend a service of Thanksgiving for the Invictus Games without family support.

According to a former palace courtier interviewed by The Daily Beast, the reconciliation between father and son is deemed important. However, any meeting with Harry would likely overshadow Charles' ongoing return to work, which is considered the highlight of the week by his office.

"Charles is hosting a garden party for 5,000 people on Wednesday. That’s a remarkable and courageous feat for a man undergoing cancer treatment. Does he want that to be sidelined?" they explained.

"It's clear that his office prefers not to divert attention to the Duke of Sussex. If there was significant public demand for a meeting between Charles and Harry, it would likely have taken place. However, Harry's popularity in the UK remains low," the source continued.

"Many still believe Harry's criticisms of his grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, tarnished their final years. Does Charles want to invest his political capital in rehabilitating Harry, especially if Harry leverages that for personal gain? This skepticism has led many to doubt the likelihood of a significant reconciliation this week," they added.
