Buckingham Palace formally announced that the monarch would be relinquishing his 31-year tenure as Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps, passing the role to Prince William.
"The official handover ceremony will take place at the Army Aviation Centre in Middle Wallop," the statement disclosed. "His Majesty The King will formally transfer the position to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales."
