King Charles Reveals Loss of Taste Due to Cancer Treatment

King Charles recently disclosed that he has lost his sense of taste as a result of his ongoing chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of cancer.

During a recent engagement, the 75-year-old monarch candidly shared this side effect. Medical specialist Dr. Gareth Nye explained to The Mirror that this is a common consequence of chemotherapy drugs, reassuring that the sense of taste typically returns after treatment concludes.

"It's commonly seen as a side effect of chemotherapy drugs and often resolves after treatment has finished," Dr. Nye said. "It's worth noting that during this time it's often advised patients avoid their favourite foods as it may put them off for the future."

Dr. Lawrence Cunningham, a GP at the UK Care Guide, added, "The severity and duration of taste loss can vary widely among patients. Some may experience changes in their taste perception only during the cycles of chemotherapy, while others may notice a prolonged effect even after the treatment has finished."

King Charles revealed his cancer diagnosis shortly after undergoing a corrective procedure for his enlarged prostate in January. His daughter-in-law, Princess Kate, also announced her diagnosis with a separate, undisclosed form of cancer following abdominal surgery earlier this year.
