Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were left speechless on their whirlwind trip to Nigeria.
The couple offered fans a sneak peek into the behind-the-scenes moments of their visit.
In a touching instance, Meghan displayed emotional vulnerability when she received a special gift for Archie and Lilibet. Given her earlier expressions of missing them on Mother's Day, the moment held added poignancy, as reported by Mirror.
During their widely covered trip to Africa, the Duchess of Sussex was moved by a gesture from 13-year-old Grace Busari. Grace, the daughter of CNN Nigeria Bureau Chief and Senior Editor, presented Meghan with a pair of beautifully hand-stitched teddy bears, leaving her overwhelmed.
The teddy bears, made from traditional African print material, nearly brought Meghan to tears as she hugged Stephanie, Grace's proud mother.
Stephanie, who attended the Women in Business conference with Meghan, shared her thoughts on the impactful visit.
"Wow! That was the weekend that was! Flying to Abuja to cover the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's visit, I truly didn’t know what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised. They are fun, caring, deeply connected, and total naturals with the crowd. Seeing Harry sit on the floor to play volleyball with disabled servicemen was remarkable, and he showed immense compassion during his hospital visit to Kaduna.
"It was a private visit but felt like a royal tour in all but name! I’m thrilled Harry and Meghan came to Nigeria to highlight the plight of injured servicemen and women, the Invictus Games, and mental health. They also helped dispel myths about Nigeria being a dangerous place. It was wonderful to see Meghan celebrated and welcomed as an honorary Naija girl! Welcome Omowale Ada Mazi Adetokunbo Amira — just a few of the names she received here!"
