Several royal experts and historians have not held back their criticism of Meghan Markle's decision to forgo a trip to the UK, as she faces backlash for declining to take center stage at Harry's Invictus Games in London.
Amidst Harry's visit to the UK to attend the Invictus Games thanksgiving service on May 8, the Duchess of Sussex has opted to remain at their Montecito residence with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Meghan's decision has stirred controversy, with some questioning her commitment to supporting her husband during his visit to his homeland.
Royal author Angelina Levin has sharply criticized the former Suits star, accusing her of "failing to stand by her husband" during his time in London, asserting, "She clearly has reservations about the UK!"
These developments follow closely on the heels of a recent poll which ranked Meghan as the "least popular royal," with only 12 percent approval. In stark contrast, Princess Kate garnered over 70 percent of the vote.
Addressing the poll results on GB News, Levin remarked, "The outcome is hardly surprising."
"Meghan has displayed a clear aversion to us and shows no inclination to return to the UK," Levin asserted.
Furthermore, Levin attributed Meghan's decision to refrain from future visits to the UK as a key factor influencing public sentiment, remarking that "her stance on the UK does not sit well with people."
"Moreover, Meghan's reluctance to visit the UK anymore has left a lasting impression on public opinion," Levin continued.
In a cautionary note, royal expert Lady C warned against the couple's proposed visit to Nigeria, stating, "We are treading into precarious territory with Meghan's proposed trip to Nigeria."
Nevertheless, some royal experts have commended the Duchess for abstaining from attending Harry's event, suggesting that her presence could potentially shift the focus away from the intended purpose. One expert even posited that Meghan's apprehension about facing disapproval might be driving her decision to steer clear of Britain.
